Could dating and relationships be an illusion?

I am a single, straight, successful, educated, independent and family oriented man. Of course, I do not advertise this stuff in person, but I thought people would see me as a total package by this point in my life. Apparently everything I was told when I was younger is a complete and total crock. Getting a girlfriend is the hardest thing to do, not something that "just happens" in college or soon thereafter, etc.! I haven't even had a real date yet, much less a girlfriend. I am still waiting for my first kiss too! Is it possible that very few people actually have these experiences before 30?
