What devise should I buy so I can record TV programs, specifially sports to watch later? I do not?

cable or satellite, blu-ray, TIVO or anything like that.. I have a converter box if I should need it and also a HT TV. Where do I get it? Like Best Buy? How much should I expect to pay? What components do I need?
