Hmm, what should I read? ?

I'd recommend anything by Samuel R. Delany... more specifically Dhalgren or one of his short stories- The Star Pit, or Time Considered as a Helix of Semi- Precious Stones. :) Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues under the sea was also really good.
