On the London tube map, why does Earl's Court have an apostrophe while Barons Court doesn't?

Accident of history. Inasmuch as anyone cares, it should probably really be Earls Court, since most other references to the area don't have an apostrophe. Apparently the name on the tube map changed in the 50's and no-one really knowns why - my guess, just a typo.
