Any tips on riding up onto the quarter pipe (on a bmx) ?

i just started bmxin and i would like some tips on how to ride up onto the top of the quarter pipe i only started 2 days ago and ive got a mongoose menace 2008 hi-ten frame and 3piece tubular cromo cranks anyway any tips? thanks
